Do you have a special needs child who just can’t seem to sit still, especially during school hours? I do… and let me tell you my ASD child, Jack, has an extremely hard time making it through our homeschool hours without constantly moving around! Recently Stages Learning Materials reached out to me, and offered to send me a Wiggle Cushion for Jack and I jumped on the opportunity as quickly as possible. Check out my Wiggle Cushion Review to find out how Jack is doing in our homeschool since starting to use this product.
What is a Wiggle Cushion?
The Wiggle Cushion is a cross between a ball chair and a seat cushion. The Wiggle Cushion is perfect for special needs children with ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder), ADHD (Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder), or SPD (Sensory Processing Disorder) who struggle with sitting still. This sensory cushion comes in either red or blue and includes a free hand pump with your purchase.
What ages is this product designed for?
The Wiggle Cushion is for children ages 3-teen. My son is 11 years old and weighs over 150 lbs., and uses this wiggle cushion with ease!
What does Jack think of the Wiggle Cushion?
Jack absolutely loves this cushion. He uses it every time we are in the school room working on book work, the computer, or even playing his video games. He said he feels like he is in the ocean and riding the waves all while doing his assignments! Recently he has even taken to placing the cushion on the table and laying his arms and head on it while I am reading aloud to him.
Homework and Horseplay’s final thoughts…
The Wiggle Cushion has been the best addition to our homeschool in a long time. Without a doubt Jack is my child who wiggles the most, and I would constantly have to ask him to settle down during lessons. Now that he has this cushion he pays attention to everything we are doing better, and does not try to get out of his seat endlessly. Which in turns means it takes us less time to complete our homeschool work.
I really like the fact that the Wiggle Cushion comes with smooth and bumpy sides because Jack has both ASD and SPD. Some days he prefers a lot of tactile input, and other days he gets easily overwhelmed with the smallest things (such as tags in his shirt or one speck of dirt on the bottom of his foot). Additionally, we can inflate or deflate the Wiggle Cushion to different heights. While fully inflated the Wiggle Cushion works on balance and core strength. Jack has low muscle tone due to some of his special needs, and I love that I can sneak in a little extra core exercises without him even knowing. I highly recommend any special needs mama, or really any family with a child who struggles with focusing, to purchase this product!
