Today I am sharing my November Dollar Tree STEM Boxes. With Thanksgiving just around the corner it is the perfect time for cornucopias and pilgrim ships, so I challenged my children to make their own.
Challenge #1: Build a pilgrim ship.
Suggested Supplies:
- Tinfoil
- Paper plates
- Straws
- Scissors
- Tape
- Glue
This was by far our most difficult challenge this month! We were able to build a few different ships, and tomorrow afternoon Jack and Julia want to put them to the test. Will they sink or will they float?
Challenge #2: Make a cornucopia snack.
Suggested Supplies:
- Waffle cones
- Paper towel
- Water
- Chocolate frosting
- Sprinkles
- Assorted candy
We first attempted to “soften” the ends of the cones with wet paper towels so we could bend the ends up like a real cornucopia, but that just ended in a sticky mess. In the end the kiddos didn’t mind… After all, chocolate is chocolate!
Challenge #3: Solve the turkey math problems.
I made these cute turkey math problems years ago for Jack. Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday I watch my cousin’s daughters and the oldest one likes to do “school” with us. She is only 2 right now, so I am going to write just numbers on the back of the feathers and she can find the matching numbers. Even though I put this box together for the girls, Jack had fun reviewing his math skills to set these up for pictures.
Thank you for joining me today to check out my November Dollar Tree STEM Boxes.
